No one knows about the parentage or the exact date of birht of Sai Baba. He first came to Shirdi as a young lad of 16 and stayed there for three years. He reappeared in the Nizam state near Aurangbad. He again came to Shirdi with a marriage party when he was 20. On seeing him, Bhagata Mhalsapati near Khandobha temple accosted him "Ya Sai" (Welcome Sai). Henceworth he was known as Sai Baba. Sai Baba began to stay in a deserted Masjid (Mosque). When he went to Rahata (3 miles from Shirdi) he brought with him a small plant of marigold, Jai to Jui. After cleaning, he planted and watered them. A devotee supplied him daily with two earthen pitchers. With these Baba himself used to water the plants. He drew water from the well and carried the pitchers on his shoulders. In the evening the pitchers were kept at the foot of the Neem tree. As soon as they were placed there, they were broken, as they were made of raw earth and not baked. Next day his devotee supplied two fresh pitchers. This course went on for three years and with Sai Baba's toil and labor, there grew a flower garden (on this site stands the present Samadhi Mandir). There are many saints, who leaving their houses stay in the forest, caves or hermitages and remaining in solitude try to get liberation or salvation for themselves. They stay away from people living a life of austerity. Sai Baba was not of such a type. He never mentioned any family made no home and had no wife, no progeny, nor any relations near or distant. He took his "bhiksha" ie. Begging for bread from four or five houses. He often sat under the (Neem) tree and taught all the people how to act and behave in this world by being an embodiment of that virtue. He did not believe sermons of mantras. In Sai Baba's own words "I look after my devotees the way a tortoise looks after her young ones, never taking my eyes off them."

Sri Sai Baba belonged to all humanity and not to any caste, creed and Nationality. He offered cooked food to dogs, ants and cattle and he advised all to offer their food to all living beings to treating them as their guests. He gave patients and the people in distress, the bits of ashes from the perpetual fire that he kept up. One day Sai Baba promised to a devotee that he would leave his mortal coil and his soul would join his body after three days and soon he performed similarly as JESUS CHRIST did before. Exactly after 3 days, his soul joined his body to the astonishment of one and all. No wonder, even the proudest intellects bowed in submission before him for that act.
Baba left his mortal coil on October 1918. And even today though several years later have rolled away, since Baba's body was placed in the tomb of SHIRDI, the Aaratis and processions continue and the eager throng of ladies and gentlemen, Hindus and Muslims, rich and poor, scholars and rustics still serve the Durbar of Sai Baba and declare that Baba is really alive and that indubitable personal experience of their own of his kindly interest and intervention in their daily life.

The Buddhist town of Sariput, in a Central Asian desert, is struck by a fierce sand storm sometime in the first century BC. When the storm is over, the town has disappeared, except for part of a Buddhist monastery, two Buddhist monks and two little children-a boy and a girl whom they stumble upon in the wilderness and decide to raise them. The monks are Pitthumitta, the older, compassionate one, and Uchanda, younger and harsh. They name the boy Nirvana, the girl, Iti, and start again with their austere lives. Twenty years later, the monastery is humming again, the two monks are still devoted to the pursuit of truth and happiness, and Nirvana and Iti have grown into two full-blooded, young-people. Respectful of the monastic life, Nirvana and Iti are still vulnerable to the passions to feel guilty and Uchanda has cause to feel furious, a hidden cause over which he vainly struggles to have control. Through Uchanda, false-hood and deceit enter the monastery. It is time for another devastating and storm.
